Hello,

I need to upgrade my Windows 8.1 to the professional edition. But I really don't know what to buy:

I can choose between these 2 products. I really want to keep my files on my Windows 8.1 while upgrading to the professional version, will this be a problem or not? And should I do a backup just to be sure?

Thanks for helping!

Hi there

My advice would be to SAVE YOUR MONEY and go for the windows 10 technical preview - you can choose ENTERPRISE which will have all the PRO facilities you need - it's valid until Apr 2015 by which time there might be a retail version of Windows 10.

Judging by the feedback on the W10 Forum people are pleased with it - doesn't seem to have any problems and you can UPGRADE without having to re-install anything.

I wouldn't advise people at this stage to do an upgrade or spend money on any more Windows 8 products - Windows 10 is BETTER and for those who like a start menu it's BACK.

Remember though it's a preview and not "released" software - but feedback shows it's very stable and quite capable of being run as a main OS (for Home users in the first instance - I wouldn't advise using this as a production OS on corporate networks just yet --test by all means though).

Cheers

Hey, thanks for the comment. So this means I need to use the 'Windows 8.1 Professional' pack? (http://puu.sh/bWCsv/8d27f9a775.png) and not the upgrade one, right?

Hey, thanks for the message. Well, the Windows 8 is free because of a special offer from my school. :p And we really need Windows 8 because of the special lesson we will get. But thanks talking about Windows 10! I'll try it for sure later too!!
