I updated my windows 8 os to windows 8.1 via windows store and now my laptop slows up. Booting takes a couple of minute around 3-5 then loading apps also now takes a minute to load and in gaming i sometimes have fps drops which i dont have in windows 8

And i find this "refresh" in the setting which says that it will refresh my laptop back to default. Does this mean that this will restore back the default os which my laptop comes with (windows 8 single language)?

it also states that
"GO TO STORE TO REINSTALL WINDOWS 8.1 and YOUR APPS" (does this actually mean that windows 8.1 will be uninstalled/ removed?

here's that actual things that it says

You can not use Windows 8.1 Refresh or Reset to downgrade to Windows 8.

Welcome to EightForums

Have you made the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disks?

information   Information

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD. (Windows 8 only)

I would recommend you making the OEM manufacturer's Recovery DVD's or USB drive.
or
You can order the Microsoft official OEM Recovery disks from the OEM manufacturer's website.

edit:

Refresh

  1. The PC boots into the Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE).
  2. Windows RE scans the hard drive for your data, settings, and apps, and puts them aside (on the same drive).
  3. Windows RE installs a fresh copy of Windows.
  4. Windows RE restores the data, settings, and apps it has set aside into the newly installed copy of Windows.
  5. The PC restarts into the newly installed copy of Windows.
Reset

  1. The PC boots into the Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE).
  2. Windows RE erases and formats the hard drive partitions on which Windows and personal data reside.
  3. Windows RE installs a fresh copy of Windows.
  4. The PC restarts into the newly installed copy of Windows

Not all computers have the "OEM partition" on the hard disk, so everything is alright.

Last question sir do you think that i should be fine by doing this? I already made a backup of my drivers since it says that all the drivers will be uninstalled and i must install in manually, So am I good to go?

You are ready to begin.

If you do a Refresh, please note the following:

Which Settings will be Preserved

Files in all users' C:\Users\(user-name) folders. (ex: Desktop, My Documents, My Music, etc...)

Which Settings will be NOT be Preserved

All installed 3rd party desktop programs (not Store apps). A list of removed apps will be saved on your desktop after the refresh is finished to let you know which programs were removed.

If you do a Reset, please note the following:

5. If prompted, select if you would like to remove all files from all drives or only the Windows 8 drive. (see screenshot below)
NOTE: You will only see this if you have more than one HDD or partition with a drive letter.

If I may add my 2cents worth.

As any old dog of Windows (98 on up) knows it's always nasty when you "upgrade' one version of Windows to another version
of Windows. Windows 8.0 to 8.1 is no exception.

For best results, if you would like to upgrade to Windows 8.1.....

Make sure you have any apps you want to install that came with your system available (on CD or for a separate download)
There are instructions in this forums for doing a CLEAN install of Windows 8.1 using an 8.0 CD Key.

This should resolve your issues if you ever want to think in the future about upgrading to Windows 8.1.
