Hello!
I have a problem with installing Windows 8.1 x86 on an older PC. Before I had Windows XP x86 installed on that system (it worked fine).
PART I:
When I try installing Windows 8.1 (Professional, 32-bit) it all goes well up until after I create partitions, format and chose where to install Windows. Then it starts installing and then it reboots for the first time.
Then, when it's supposed to come back into the setup program it reboots again instead of coming into the program. And when it boots again it gives this message (I took a photo):
After this first happened I used DISKPART clean all command and tried again from the beginning - and it happened exactly the same! All I get after a reboot is that message.
Do you know what could be the problem (regarding that it happens after the first reboot in installation)?
PART II
When I tried installling a 64-bit version of Windows 8.1 the installation went a little further but then rebooted and gave me this (another photo):
I've read that older AMD processors aren't compatible with Windows 8.1 64-bit. That would explain that error, but why the problem with 32-bit version?
Here are the specs of my PC:
BIOS: The latest - updated today
CPU: DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ @ 2.40 GHz
MBO: Asus M2N-E SLI
RAM: 3 GB DDR2-800
GPU: Geforce 9500 GT
HDD: Seagate ST3320620NS (320 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA-II)
I reinstalled Windows XP now and it works flawlessly but would like to update to 8.1 (32-bit), please help.
Thank you!
