Upgrading Windows 7 Pro to Windows 8.1 Pro

Hi all,
I am new to forum , and would like to post a problem.

I want to upgrade windows 7 Pro system to windows 8.1 pro without loosing data or installed software settings.

is there a easy/legal way to this???

Hi and Welcome to EightForums,

The way i normally do this is...
Take screenshots of your installed software in Add/Remove Programs, copy all your data onto a USB Pen Drive/External Drive.

Install Windows 8.1 and then copy data back on and install the software again.

Providing you buy a copy of Windows 8 then it is legal.
