How to reset windows 8.1?

Hi guys,

I bought an Asus Vivobook S551LB. Paying around 1150 for it, the specs seemed good and I thought it'd be a fairly quick laptop.

Turns out... It's really slow, and freezes a lot.

It was preinstalled with Windows 8, then I updated to 8.1. I'm fairly new to anything past Windows 7 so, 8 I'm completely lost.

I deleted all the bloatware that came with the laptop but it still freezes, so my last resort is to reinstall windows.

Problem.. I can't because I updated to Windows 8.1 and when I try to reset it says I'm missing a partition.

If anyone could escort me through my problem and why I'm having this problem that'd be cool. Or link me to a thread that's been solved.

Thanks in advance!

Have you made the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disks?

information   Information

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD. (Windows 8 only)

I would recommend you making the OEM manufacturer's Recovery DVD's or USB drive.
or
You can order the Microsoft official OEM Recovery disks from the OEM manufacturer's website.

Thank you.

To be honest, I don't remember if I created them. I don't even actually remember being prompt to make them. Are there any other ways to diagnose why my laptop keeps freezing and lagging? I bought this laptop for school, and now sometimes I regret buying this particular one. The specs were decent though... unless someone can tell me wrong.

Take a look at this post: link

hi all
i had same problem after update to win 8.1.
after reading this post (which was very usful),i went to asus web site and find solution for this:
pogram cald "Backtracker" fron Asus that will let you to acssec and backup and restor from the recovery partition even after update to win 8.1.

heare is the link to the program:

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support-

i used it to recover my computer and worked perfect and very simpel to use.

i hoop it will help all

If the reset is successful using "Backtracker".

Before upgrade to Windows 8.1 from the Windows Store, you do not need to install all Windows 8 updates from Windows Update. You only need to install KB2871389 update, then you’ll be able to install the Windows 8.1 update via the Windows Store. But if you've opened the Windows Store and you don't see the Windows 8.1 update, then you will need to also install KB2917499 update.
