It's going good so far but when I try to do the BCD stuff, I run this command: w
    :\Windows\System32\bcdboot w:\Windows

And error pop-up says that: The program can't start because api-ms-win-core-file-l1-1-1.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

    Any help?

EDIT: If it helps I ran it in verbose mode and got this:

Another Edit: I rebooted my computer and now my w: drive is gone? I'm confused.

You appear to be trying to run the bcdboot command from w: but you're also declaring w: as your VHD. Run bcdboot from the VHD host.

Another Edit: I rebooted my computer and now my w: drive is gone? I'm confused.

Gone as in the actual physical VHD file is missing?

The VHD file is there but the drive (W:) Is gone. Also, can you give me the command I should type in? I'm not sure what you mean.

Anyone have any input on this? I'd love to have Windows 8 running soon!

What makes you think the drive has gone?

    The command is simply:

bcdboot w:\Windows - where w: is the drive you declared for the VHD.

You run bcdboot from C:\Windows\System32 but the path should already be set.

That did the trick. And to get the W drive to show again I had to attach it in command prompt. I should hopefully have windows 8 running soon! Thanks!
