it didn't work, but I have a question about clean boot. when I applied the clean boot restarted the computer before the upgrade I found that everything goes back its place I mean like I didn't apply the clean boot, is that normal?

Hi, you have to completely uninstall the Avast software before doing the upgrade. See "Couldn't update to Windows 8.1 - 0xC1900101 - 0x40017" - Microsoft Community

    Good luck, werty

When I upgraded to 8.1 Pro I was using a Microsoft account, not a local account.
    The transition went smoothly.
    Just a thought.
