    Sure man!

You can use EasyBCD to add Ubuntu on single boot option. Since I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 (10+) so no probs so far.

Also I can disable the Boot manager 1 with it.

My Windows 8 installation recognized the triple boot from the beginning. I think it's because I had already used EasyBCD to create a dual boot Windows 7 / Ubuntu 11.10 system. I installed Windows 8 in a partition on my second disk.

After the Windows 8 installation, my system booted into the graphic OS selection screen; all three OSs were there. If I selected Windows 7 or Ubuntu, it would reboot my entire system, but take me to my selected OS. I eventually clicked on the "Change Defaults" (I forget the exact wording of the message) link in the Windows 8 graphic boot screen and changed my default to Windows 7. Now it comes up in the non-graphic Windows 7 boot loader screen with all three OSs available.

But, if you shutdown from Windows 8 and you start up, it'll back to Windows 8 Graphic OS selection.

BTW. Welcome to Eight Forums, Bob!

Ah, yes, I see. But it does retain Windows 7 as the default, although that causes it to go through the reboot dance. I wonder why they have to reboot the entire computer to switch from Windows 8 to Other OS.

BTW, after a bit of playing around to learn how it works, I think that Windows 8 is very cool. And, hey, I'm 73 years old. I wrote my first programs on punch cards over 50 years ago and have booted many systems using front panel switches. My first thought when I saw the Macintosh in February 1984 was, "This is the way people should use computers." I got an Android tablet last summer and am now seeing the next thing.

rplantz, welcme aboard. I'm 59 and actually wrote a high school computer science course using Texas Instrument computers.

You have to reboot because your computer "thinks" that the partition is on another hard drive. Your current partition has to stop and the other one has to begin.

Neat! I spent the last 21 years of my working life teaching computer science at a university. We had to constantly change our curriculum to keep up with things.

But I have two different linux installations, one on each disk. If I use the grub bootloader (from linux), it will boot either one without going through the motherboard boot sequence. I'm wondering if the Windows 8 bootloader actually changes the disk booting sequence in my MB's BIOS, although I think I read somewhere that it is not as dependent on the BIOS. Still lots to learn.
