Does a new windows 8 have install disc?

Hi, this is my first post. I let AVG remote access my computer and they crashed it , it's dead
Ok it gave me two options when I turned it back on, I picked the one that formatted the HD.
So I forgot to make a boot disc. My question is , if I buy windows 8 which it came with will
the install disc's have its own boot up on installing it.

Also what would be the best all around virus protection to buy. I need some thing that will
    make the computer bullet proof.

    Thx for any help.

    bob

Windows 8 retail versions have there own boot up utilities.

No such thing as a bullet proof AV. Use Windows Defender or Avast (Free) and use what is between your ears. Read this:

Was Windows 8 originally installed on your computer?

It sounds like you fell for a scam. I have a friend that Googled AVG and clicked the top most link. Well guess what, it wasn't the real AVG site. She called the 1-800 number and they convinced her to gave them remote access and they then proceeded to lock her out of her PC and demand money to undo it. They claimed her PC was infected and needed to be isolated from the internet. She suspected something wasn't right and asked me about it. I told her to call her credit card company right away and block any charges by this company. She got all her money back and eventually got her PC sorted out too.

If you buy a full Retail copy at a store you'll get install media. Just don't buy a Pro Pack, its just an upgrade key with no media. If you buy online, depending on where you buy it from, it may be a download or physical media. Read the fine print if you order online.

If you check your manual you may find that there is a key you can press during boot up to do a factory reset. I'd try that first, if it works it should put it back to the original factory condition it was in when you first turned it on.

Welcome to Windows Eight Forums, bob astol. Sorry to read of your misfortune!

Was it the HP Recovery Manager or the Windows recovery you performed the formatting of the HD with?

At this point you may have to order installation discs from HP or restore from the restore partition if HP provided one. If provided, open this link, scroll down to the "Recovery when Windows 8 does not start correctly" section and follow the instructions there.

So far as AV, most AV guru members here claim that the integrated Windows Defender along with Malwarebytes is sufficient for home use. A business running multiple machines and servers is a different situation.

    boot disc

The Toshiba laptop won't go any further than turning on. A black screen appears and in the top left hand corner
it says no bootable disc, can't go beyond that. I need to get a windows 8 version that sets up the computer without
me getting something else to help it along. The hard drive have been formatted already because that was the only option I had after AVG got control of it.

Think of it being a brand new HD and your installing win 8 or win 8.1 (or what ever there up to now) for the first time.

    thx

As mentioned, one option is to contact Toshiba and order a set of recover disk for that make and model. The other option is to buy Windows 8 or 8.1 and use that to do a clean install. Retail DVD's are bootable, OEM system builder DVD's are too. On Windows PC's that come with Windows 8 or 8.1 preinstalled at the factory the product code is embedded in the BIOS. Did this PC ship with Windows 8.0 or 8.1?

    boot disc

It came with Windows 8. it's only about 1 yr old
I don't use computers for more that watching movies , email , or printing. But now that I know there's a way
to reinstall windows I will buy my own disc's just in case this happens again . Thx for the info

Just to prepare myself for the shock about how much would this cost. Also what would be the best virus program
to buy, I had webroot but when the guy from AVG did a scan it came up with thousands of infected files , I should say one file that seemed to have been download over and over and was running in the background . I can't see how webroot could have missed all that?
I knew there was something wrong because it started doing weird things. However everything I used it for still worked until AVG gained access to it, I kinda think they ****ed it up on purpose from the way they were acting when I
didn't go for their $300 fix.

Like I said, that wasn't the real AVG web site, it was a scam site, all they wanted was your money. If the original install wasn't the special "single language" version a Retail Windows 8.0 DVD should read and use your embedded OEM key. My Microsoft 8.0 ISO read and used the embedded 8 Core key in my ASUS laptops BIOS and installed 8 Core automatically. I wasn't prompted to enter a key and it activated automatically online. You can also install 8.1 and activate with your 8.0 key. Activate retail Windows 8.1 with Windows 8 Product key.. If your actually going to buy Windows 8 I'd buy 8.1. Ordering a set of recovery disks should be a lot cheaper though. The only glitch with that is all the factory bloat ware will be reinstalled.
