An Apppool (Application Pool) is a collection of resources allocated to a web site hosted under Internet Information Server (IIS) The idea being to isolate web sites from each other and prevent one faulty application from bringing down the entire server.

I have no idea why they showing up under signout, but you can see if stopping it/them makes any difference. I assume you've enabled IIS, so, go to Administrative Tools/Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager. In the navigation pane expand the tree to show Application pools. In the middle window select the application pool(s), right click and select stop. See if they're removed from signout.
