New Acer Lap Top came with Linux - How to Install Win 7?

    1) I'll double-click on the "Install Linux Mint" icon found on my desktop (like shown in the picture I posted above). I will do this in hopes that Linux Mint will be installed on my lap top and then it will load WITHOUT the USB stick.

    If that works...

I will put Windows 7 on my USB stick (And remove Linux Mint from it), and then try to install it either by booting from startup (if that works) or by entering "My computer" after turning the lap top on and doing it from there...

That's what I'll try... If anyone has anything to contribute, please do

    YES!!!

The Lap Top now turns on WITHOUT the USB stick, kick-ass!!!

PHASE 1 of the plan was a success!

Now, we continue, let's stick to the plan and avoid confusion...

Now to put Windows on a USB stick... I will first Format the USB using FAT32 (Default), and then use UNetbootin to mount the ISO of Windows 7 on the USB...

When that's finished, I'll try to boot from USB and hopefully begin the Windows 7 OS installation on my lap top...

Could be, maybe, but I'm barely surviving here with my transcription work and other incomes I have from the internet, I pay rent, the bills, live alone, and struggle to make ends meet...

So my priority - as I believe makes sense - is to increase my income, by the same perseverance I displayed here...

But that doesn't leave me a lot of time for "hobbies", or in this case for learning how to operate a new Operating System... I'll stick with what I know for now, life is such at the moment, we gotta do what we gotta do to survive, don't you think?

Yea, getting harder and harder these days. I don't do FaceBook or Twitter either. I don't post anyway.

One thing I'd like to say before the "anger" leaves me...

If an ACER representative comes across this thread and this comment... Kiss My ASS!!!

The reason for me saying that is because I'll fix the problem for me, I got the help and I'm computer-savvy enough...and hopefully other people that have the same issue will come across this thread and get helped, it's so detailed, spoon-feeding, extremely helpful.

But I'm sure a lot of other people wouldn't be able to solve this issue, they don't speak English, or they'd just give up, not know what to do, get upset, go take the lap top back to the shop, etc...

And all you have to do is put a simple Linux Mint (as we did here) and save people a whole lot of hassle...

Imagine someone who doesn't know computers buys a lap top for his 12 year old for example, and they try to turn it on all excited and happy, and they came across a stupid fuc*ing black screen...

I get it, they'll have to take it to the shop and pay to get a proper OS installed and spend more money.. but what if they're poor? What if they were saving for months to get that lap top and cannot afford to pay extra? You business DEVILS!!!

No I do not. But I'm not overly proscriptive about others choices in that regard.

What is transcription anyway? Like translation?

I mean, now I am learning social media marketing, and how to create websites, and all these things, in order to make more money and not have to work so much some day...

If I had money, then I wouldn't have to be so radical about learning the stuff I wanna learn, and then I could sit and test out Linux Mint for example...

But the way things stand now, I have no time for testing things which are not crucial to my goal... survival!!

I hope I explained it well...

Transcription is different from Translation. In transcription you get a recording, and you listen to everything the person/people in the recording are saying, and you type it all following certain guidelines (The guidelines depend and vary from company to company and from customer to customer)... You have to put double-dashes if a person interrupts another person for example, put ellipsis on incomplete sentences, insert timestamps, speaker identification, etc etc...

Yes, agreed... I am much happier now

But I'm also considerate of other people, and I hate injustice, because I had injustices done to me for years that were outta my control, so I'm feeling that...

Windows 7 is still loading on the USB...

    60% Complete...

It will take time as Windows 7 is three times bigger than Linux Mint...

I think your anger might need to be with the seller. Don't know if Acer sells machines with no OS to retailers but that appears to be what happened. Then they (the seller) put that crappy DOS like Linux version on your laptop.

They may even be removing the drive with the OEM OS on it then replacing it with the drive with Linux on it.
