When I go into my BIOS, and then in Security, I have an option:

    "Secure Boot Mode" -> "Standard"

However, it won't let me get there to see if it can be changed/disabled... mmm
That's good, should mean it is not in secure boot mode, again look here:

    OK Round 2:

Lets start with updating the bios - Acer have included legacy mode in v2.11...

Thanx popeye for the advice here:

That will make things a lot easier...

Edit: Seems Acer admitted to messing up Windows 7 support - see below - others have reported success with the new bios so - fingers crossed..

    Re: Aspire E1-510 Windwos 7

In looking into what you have reported, I see this system uses the Bay Trail chipset, which was not qualified to run the Windows 7 operating system. This system is not able to boot from “traditional” bootable CD/DVDs and flash drives, therefore, there is no legacy option in the system BIOS. You can boot the system from bootable media, however, it must contain UEFI boot files or WinPE 4.0 or 5.0.

    Good morning everyone...

Alright, I'll attempt to update the BIOS. I've never done that before by the way, updating BIOS, so it's unfamiliar to me how to do exactly...

EDIT: I downloaded the first one --> Enable BIOS Legacy mode | 2.11 | 5.3 MB

Alright, in the link you provided Superfly this guy "baidrk" gives instructions on how to do it, I'm doing it now... I will report back.

Ok, so I formatted the USB using FAT32 (Default), and then I extracted the BIOS ZIP File I downloaded onto the USB...

Then I plugged it in the lap top...

Now, if I press F12 on start up, I get this screen:

If I let it boot by USB, then I get this screen:

The last option in the second picture that cannot be seen is "System Setup"... That sort of seems like the most logical choice, is that what I'm supposed to click on?

EDIT: I clicked on that - "System Setup" - and the lap top restarted and then opened up in BIOS... But that's pretty much it...

Tell me this, in step 3 he says:

"3. Extract the file E1-510BIOS.zip to the USB pen drive, which will create a bootable pendrive."

I simply right-clicked on the ZIP file and extracted the files onto the USB... Do I need to Extract the files in a special way in order to make it a bootable USB drive?

Seems the USB is not bootable... the second screen is the Linux boot screen - you may need to use the FreeDos selection in UNetbootin to make the USB DOS bootable then copy the files onto it...

Alright, I'll be doing that probably, however, I did something now, check it...

I followed this tutorial from this forum:

UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows

And I created a USB windows 7 64-bit only bootable with the Rufus program...

And It DID recognize it, here:

Then I selected it and pressed enter, only to arrive at an error screen

    Here's that screen:

Should I proceed with the BIOS solution, or does this give you any ideas of maybe editing the ISO of the Windows 7 Installation and then mounting it on the USB again and trying again?

I'll prepare the BIOS USB as you said with UNetbootin until you get the chance to tell me how to proceed...

Well, the USB has been created with the BIOS update files... using UNetbootin...

    Here's how I did it:

I assume selecting FreeDOS in the first red circle is meaningless, since I used the second tab (with the arrow) to browse and select the BIOS Update ZIP file... And then clicked ok...

EDIT1: I opened the lap top with the BIOS USB into it and entered Boot Manager, it didn't recognize it...

Now I changed it again, I used UNetbootin with the first option FreeDOS, and it completed, it put some files onto the USB, and now I will copy the BIOS update files on it as well, and try starting the lap top again...

EDIT2: I tried it, it didn't recognize it again...

You need to click Distribution not DiskImage. The files can be copied across later.

That's the "EDIT 2" I tried... First I used Distribution -> FreeDOS, and when that was completed I simply copied the BIOS update files onto the USB... Tried loading the lap top, didn't recognize it...
