Well, I need to give credit to all of you. It does work, although I get the Windows 8 bootloader. The first time I have been able to get EasyBCD to work flawlessly. Thanks!

Visual BCD Editor has proven itself over EasyBCD for me while using Win8. Try that.

    I assume it handles Ubuntu.

The problem is that the system reboots for win 7 and Ubuntu. Kinda annoying. Oh well.

That's a windows 8 "feature" - the reboot for other OSs. I have one 32-bit Windows 8 that loads from the Windows 7 (64-bit) Bootloader, without the reboots. I have another 64-bit Windows 8 installation on the same machine, which loads from the Windows 8 bootloader, with subsequent boots via the Windows 8 bootup screen and then reboots to the next OS e.g. for Windows 7 as you describe.

In the past, the Ubuntu Grub bootloader chainloaded Windows 7 gracefully, unless you also had XP also booting and had to reload that due to some problem - that then screwed everything up until you next repair-installed Windows 7, and then fixed Grub by booting from an Ubuntu install disk and reinstalled Grub to the Linux partition, rewriting the mbr, I think.

I think that is a major flaw with Windows 8. Hopefully they rethink that issue and change it for the final release.

By the way, if I want to remove Windows 8, what is the best way to go about it? I understand how to do it if it was installed in Windows 7. Did I make a mistake by installing EasyBCD in Window 8? I was under the impression it had to be installed in Windows 8 for the bootloader to show all three operating systems.

    Thanks guys.

I suppose you can use EasyBCD to restore the Win7 bootloader in both Win8 and Win7 as it would give the same effect. It simply overwrites the existing bootloader with the Windows 7 one. Upon booting you will have the old bootloader and inside Win7 you can delete the Win8 partition to get rid of the OS.

You can always try to use Visual BCD Editor if EasyBCD doesn't solve your problems.
