Hi All,

I bought a new Acer V5-572 Laptop which came pre-installed with Linux and BIOS was UEFI mode selected. To install windows 8.1, I made a installable USB of windows 8.1 and selected Legacy boot in BIOS to boot from it. While installing I formatted the harddisk completely using DISKPART "clean" command. Finally, Windows 8.1 got installed on Legacy boot mode.

But now when I changed the boot mode from Legacy to UEFI, it doesnt boot from anything(not even from same USB) and gives error i.e no bootable device.
I tried ALT+F10 for going to Acer Factory setting, even that doesnt work. May be I have formatted System Recovery/Factory settings partition as well.

Can anybody help me here to boot from Windows - USB on UEFI mode ?

Thanks
Nitin

I suppose my first question would be why would you want to install Windows 8 as Legacy?

If you have a Bootable Windows 8 flash drive, you need to use the Boot Device Menu and select the UEFI version of that device to boot into the UEFI configuration. The bios has to be set to allow for UEFI devices and the flash drive has to be formatted in the FAT32 configuration.

It won't boot anything as UEFI because you do not have a UEFI configured install of Windows 8.. or Linux.
