How do I intall 64bit OS on my windows 8

My system in HP Pavilion g6 with 64bit processor but am running 32bit. I would like to install 64bit because all the software I need for my project as an Architectural student were all 64bit based softwares. I need a step by step on how to do this.

You get either a 32bit or 64bit windows installation disk, or both. They are both separate Windows 8 operating systems, and you can only use one. Do you have any of those DVDs lying around that you installed off of? If you didn't get any, you would need to purchase it and completely reinstall. This will erase everything from your computer, so if you have to save files, emails, etc, you'd need to do that beforehand. The DVDs can be expensive though.

To switch from 32 bit to 64 bit you'll have to reinstall Windows like DustSailor said. Your current product code is good for 32 bit or 64 bit, its your choice. What you need is the 64 bit install media.

He doesn't have to purchase it... just download the 64-bit version (not that hard to find, just check hash at MSDN) and use the current key.
