How do I change default drive?

Please someone help, it's driving me mad .

I've already tried the whole regedit thing where I changed ProgramFilesDir and ProgramFilesDir from C: to E:

I've only got a 60GB SSD drive where Windows 8 is installed but I've got a 2TB HHD where I want to install all new programs.

My SSD is now full and I can't download app updates or update to 8.1 due to lack of space.

Would it be easier to move windows onto my HDD? And if so, how do I do that?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I usually just move my user folders like Documents, Pictures, Music etc. Some move their whole profile. Installing programs to your spinner just negates the speed advantage of having one, IMHO.

60 GB is barely enough room for a Win 8.11 install, to move your programs you'll have to reinstalled each one. Your data files find the actual folder My Document, My Music etc. Right click and move or drag and drop then right click and change the target address to the new location.

Yes always select Custom Install, then you will get the opportunity to chose which drive to install your program too. There are a few that will not give you that option Like Norton IS, Malwarebytes some programs do need to be on your C:\ but those don't use much space. You can goggle how to move your Temp files to another drive also. If you jump into a forum specific to SSD there are lots of trick you can use to minimize use of your very precious SSD Space. And with only 60 GB your going to need everyone of those tricks.
