Solved cannot boot from dvd, Asus laptop with 8.1
I got into BIOS and found a menu I've never seen before.
Add boot option.
Path to boot option.
Create.
The add boot option doesn't accept letters or numbers. Any input is 'out of range'.
Asus model X551M, has a 500 gig hard drive.
So, how do I get this to work ?
Thanks !

That menu is for adding an OS boot option. That's not the menu you want. Press and hold down the esc key then press the power button. On my ASUS laptop that gets me the quick boot menu. It will boot to what you select that one time. On the next reboot it goes back to the BIOS default boot order.

Spamming the esc key will get you to the boot menu also on some Asus NB like mine!

It's F8 on my ASUS motherboards, boy was that a bad choice for obvious reasons.
