    Changing BIOS date of install

Will updating my BIOS changs the date of installation? If not, does the BIOS need to be replaced for this to occur? I am trying to apply to a job but their software is telling them my computer is too old. I've checked and the date they are showing is the BIOS date exactly. Can this be fixed without exorbitant cost?

They're scanning what now? They have asked you to install software so the can scan for the date of your BIOS?

Is this a job with the NSA? Do you mind telling me what kind of Job requires you to do this? You're running Windows 8.1. How new do they want it?

    I smell carp.

Warning" "they" should not be (1) identifying the BIOS date on your PC and (2) telling you to update the BIOS.

There may not be a more current BIOS version available, and even if there is, if anything goes wrong during an update, you will be left with a paperweight. Will "they" replace your PC if this happens?

Looking at the specs, not a old old PC.

All I can see is Legacy BIOS firmware V UEFI/BIOS firmware.

All right it appears further explanation is required. The job I am trying to get is with a reputable company but I will be working from home. Therefore it behooves them to be secure about computers that may not be able to run the applications they will provide. I agree that running Win 8.1 Pro should be sufficient but apparently they are not allowing the use of any computers that show up on their scan as being more than 5 years old. They are obviously using the BIOS date to tell them the age of the computer as the BIOS date and their scan date match exactly. I'm just trying to bypass this "problem". Any ideas?

If you have allowed them access to your PC, or if that software sends information to their system, a BIOS date or update wouldn't do anything. They can see your system specs. Allot of software takes your system specs, if they have a gateway to the information the software is taking, they know pretty much everything about the PC you use.

Upgrade time if the job is worth it. A new motherboard usually requires new ram, new CPU, unless you can find the most recent Socket 775? Considering when it was superseded, I doubt it will make a diff. Maybe someone with more knowledge could challenge my conclusion.

Well thanks anyway. I was just hoping there would be a less expensive path. I'll keep looking.

By all means update the bios, it's often a good idea regardless (Be sure you know what you are doing and the implications of a fail) but for a company that seems to be this thorough, I would doubt they rely on a BIOS date alone, if at all.

having a look at your GATEWAY E-6610D on the site, the Board seems to be different than the one you listed. The latest bios and drivers are old, the PC is obviously discontinued, WIN8 isnt even listed as a driver update option.
The last BIOS update for that PC (Not the Board you listed) states 2010.

I'm really sorry that there doesn't appear to be a work around for you. Life can be frustrating.

It all just doesn't sound right to me; however, it might be more understandable if you tell us "how you PC fits directly into the job you are applying for?" Moreover, if they have access to your PC, I doubt that a BIOS update would be the cure because they are most likely looking at the other aspects of your rig. Now, my opinion from first glance would be that you need more RAM and you need an updated display driver. Maybe the real issue is your specs might not support the company's software that is required to be installed and maintained to support your new job function?
