Ok, this site claims you can download the data migration and cloning software for free after purchase:

SSD Q Series Pro - Toshiba

With that said, you can go to the Toshiba support site and see if it is available.

One more thing. Right now, you have two responders pointing you in two different directions. Specifically, I am trying to help you find a way to migrate your OS to an SSD and I have done so by verifying you can get the necessary software for free at the Toshiba website; whereas, theog is suggesting a different method. With that said, I will conclude my support effort because I have found a solution that might work for you. In summary, if you want to go the migration route, then please download the software and get started; however, if you would like to pursue theog's suggestions, please continue to work with him until resolution.

Good luck with your decision on which way to go. Hope we have helped you in some way.

I prefer you help me with this. Would I be able to do it without a SATA to USB cable though? I don't have that that cable...
I read on another site to download EaseUS Todo backup. Would I be able to just install the SSD in second Drive slot, copy HDD to SSD using said program, and then put the SSD in first drive slot?

It depends on the requirements of the migration and cloning software. My instincts tell me that you will most likey be able to install you SSD on a secondary SATA port if you download that software because you can't physically download a free SATA to USB cable; correct? My advice would be to download the Toshiba free software and follow the instructions (either in the readme file or onscreen). If this procedure fails, no physicall harm will come to you new SSD and you can always take another route.

    Hope this helps. Good luck.

Ok, I just purchased a SATA to USB cable. Can you walk me through this? My goal is to Copy Windows 8.1 from HDD to SSD and use the SSD as primary drive with OS... Help appreciated

Unfortunately, I cannot walk you through this because I have no idea why you purchased that cable, what software you are intending to use, and I won't have access to the on screen instructions. Previously, I recommended the folowing:

Download the free Toshiba migration and cloning software
Confirmed that I agreed the cable was not necessary

And now you have a cable in hand. I really don't understand where you are right now.

My Primary HDD came pre-installed with the OS (Windows 8 64bit) as well as Recovery Partitions on the HDD. Would the Migration software transfer those Recover Partitions also?

OK, so did you download that software, install it, and follow the instructions? Not to be rude but your responses lack specific detail and only leave me with more questions. IMHO, it is the OP that should be providing all necessary particulars so they can be responded to accordingly (without the responder having to continually ask for clarifications and or ask more questions). With that said, my fingers are cramping so I'm done for today. Maybe someone else will step in or you can give it a whirl yourself.

    Good luck,
