Windows 8 CP stuck on Beta Fish screen

I've burned 3 DVDs so far - 2 from the first ISO I download (2 diff speed burns), and 1 from a second ISO I downloaded. Also I've made 2 different bootable USB drives.

The same result each time. The beta fish image comes up and the dvd drives reads for a bit. Then when the status animation starts, it just sits there. I'm not sure if it's frozen, but num lock and caps lock buttons stop responding. I let it go for about 45 minutes but nothing happened.

I don't really have any exotic hardware so not sure what the issue is ...

    Asus P6X58D Premium + i7 970 + 12GB RAM, X-FI sound card, and a GTX 580.

Main drive is an Intel SSD + 3 HDD on and 2 blu-ray drives on the other Intel SATA controllers. One more SATA hdd on the Marvel controller. Everything set to AHCI. I briefly attempted to install while the main SATA controller was set to IDE, but same result. Wiped the SSD (OS) and tried again - same result.

    Any ideas?

OK - I figured out it was the Marvel controller. Disabled it temporarily and the computer booted into the setup!

How did you disable the Marvel controller if you could not get Windows 8 to boot?

If you search sevenforums.com, somebody long ago posted about a way to disable items (video, storage, whatever you want etc...) while installing Windows.

This would likely help, although it was very useful at the time for the video adapter for some people.

So you wouldn't need to disable anything in the bios. But if you still want to try bios, you'd have to make sure you are not installing to the specific storage port (physically) that you are wanting to disable. Correct, it won't have the maker's name there at all.

Edit: I have found it. It is by our good friend Orbital Shark:

    Hi there
why not install from a USB drive -- saves burning an ISO and should get round your controller problem.

Plently of links on this forum about bootable USB drives.

(Note here -- create an INSTALL usb drive -- not the Windows to go -- an excellent but a different product).

    Cheers
