START UP - Win 7 vs. Win 8

Under MSCONFIG|start up in Win 7 files paths and registry entry paths are shown for each item.
Under TASKMGR|start up in Win 8/8.1 that info isn't shown. Is that handy information readily available elsewhere?

    Hi there Borgus,

when you view the items under "Taskmanager"/ "Startup" you can rightclick on each item to get more information. I.e. the filepath and properties of the specific item.

I guess this was done to make it easier for the users to controll the startup process.

That's what I'd like, but the registry entry, specifically, is not available on a right-click in W8/8.1.
I see only DISABLE, OPEN FILE LOCATION, SEARCH ONLINE, PROPERTIES.

Yes, you are right there. The registry entry is not visible. You can do a richtclick on the 'headers' to add some more information, for instance the amount of CPU time it took to start the task. But I don't see any reference to the registry entry.

I'm sorry....but it seems I can't help you with that. I don't know if it's possible to view it, perhaps MS has removed that feature.

Why would you need the reference to the registry entry? Perhaps there is another way to do what you want to do with it?

It's handy to see where the entry resides in the registry, as there are so many spots where RUN can be invoked. Thanks.

Hello everyone, I just found this super small program that puts the Start Orb on the task bar. All my testing it seems very well programmed. It is free too! I really miss the Start Orb in Windows 8 and this gives me the best of both worlds. www.classicstart8.com Enjoy -WS
