Solved Dual Boot Skipped by WDP

Did anyone notice this?

Though it said WDP has come to its lst days. But, has anyone noticed a weirdness happens sometimes in dual boot process. I have one of my PC with Win 7 and WDP with the time out set at 10 seconds and WDP stay as the default. But recently I noticed that WDP skipping it. At least 3 out of 5 my PC will boot directly to WDP. I run EasyBCD and changed Win 7 as the default and increase the time out to 20 seconds. But the occurrences were similar, it mostly jump directly to WDP, and I should go restarting it to have Win 7 come to a choice.

That's pretty weird.

Didn't occured to me yet. I'll let you know if it happens.

I saw the pc restarting itself after choosing Windows 7 from the list but it works and boots with Win7 so it's not that bad.

In my case, it depends on which one I was last using. If it was WDP, then it boots into that, without a delay. If Win 7 then the other, with the delay..

Compared to yours I could think there might be something with mine that preventing it to display the boot selection screen properly.

I did try that sequence to mine. And, yes I found it run at almost the same way. Restarting after Win 7 it did follow the time out given. After WDP it just jumped in to whirling dots. Just recalled a months ago I tried doing repair from boot menu option and both boot selection have added in parentheses (recovered) and fixed it with EasyBCD. But have no idea if that was the cause.

Possibly by design. I've currently got 3 OSes installed - Windows 7, an earlier incarnation of Windows 8, and Windows 8 DP. My default OS is W8 DP, and I have set the menu delay to 10 seconds (long enough to let me change OS, but not so long that I have to twiddle my thumbs whilst waiting for the default if I don't). If I decide that I want to boot in to one of the alternatives, the computer restarts and then it boots straight up in to the alternative without going through the menu. Depending on how you have your power options set, subsequent boots will bring up the last OS used, with a restart being required to bring around the boot menu.

I got the point. I will look into it and observe the booting behavior more closely and learn from it.

Probably it will solve, or not ... ?

By restarting, mostly will. But sometimes it just skip it again. But when combined with linux it works normally just after GRUB menu.
