The frequency that the laptop checks for new Emails

I have a POP3 Email address (Tiscali). i have it set up on "Outlook"
I can send and receive Emails ok but the check for new incoming ones is currently every 30 minutes. I should be able to change that to what I want (every 2 minutes).
I cannot find how to do it - despite Goggling for a solution. Some solutions were given but the options were not visible on my machine.
    Please advise

If you speak of Outlook as in Microsoft office outlook, open the program click on file, click on options, click on advanced, go to send/receiver and there is a button to the left send/receive, click it and setting is in the lower part of the window that opens.

    Thank you Exscentric,
Sadly, your instructions are not possible for me to carry out as my "Outlook" has no "File" icon to click on.
There is a gearwheel I tried, which offers "More email options" but these few options do not include what I want.

You aren't using MS outlook in Office then. I am not acquainted with outlook.com (hotmail). Hopefully someone that is will drop by with instructions soon :-)

According to answers.microsoft.com there is no option to change the frequency in Outlook.com by design.

Quote:" Please be informed that you can receive up to 50 messages automatically at a time every 30 minutes. If you have more than 50 messages, they're included in the next automatic refresh."

To know more, please read this article
Look at POP, specially the first paragraph.

Thanks for that "Lifetec". I need not look to change the frequency then.
Any idea why I,m not getting an audible signal when new emails arrive?

Found this in a post/thread on answers.microsoft.com "refresh (arrow circle) does not seem to check my pop3 mail server...however, if I go in and retype my password...it refreshes and gets the mail."

Maybe this works also for you.

    Also from anwers.microsoft.com
Hotmail/Outlook not longer support email notifications. How ever windows live mail does support it.
For that you would need a 3rd party application.
    One such application is POPPeeper.

POP Peeper is an email notifier that runs in your Windows task bar and alerts you when you have new email on your POP3, IMAP (with IDLE support), Hotmail/Outlook.com, Yahoo, GMail.
Many notification options are available to indicate when new mail has arrived, such as sound alerts (configurable for each account), flashing scroll lock, skinnable popup notifier, customized screensaver and more.
