Yes to access those files I used the program the others mentioned called Partition Guru. You can get it here:Recover deleted files, Partition manager and Windows backup - PartitionGuru

It's free and you can browse the hidden partitions with it and extract the files.

If you need more help just ask

You only need SIW2 Bootable Recovery Tool.

    Hi

I have the exact same problem as other it seems. My Asus X550CC has been rather unstable the last few weeks, so I wanted to restore my laptop to factory point, but when I try that it claims some files are missing and I have to insert an media to continue, then I tried to Safe boot but it claimed an partition was missing.

I Googled the issue and found this thread as its the same issue I have but I'm lost in the process. I have dl the file v7 and created an bootable cd and also an USB Stick which both start fine and brings me to some menu, but I dont know what to do from there, as it seems other just point to their *.wim file and then it restores it all again, is this wrong or have I misunderstood it all? Could someone please provide an step by step guide?

    best regards SilentDK

    That should work.

If there is a .wim or several .swm files on the recov partition, you can use install from those. Tools for that are included in the winpe you made. It will tell you waht images are in the .wim or .swm. If there is more than one, select the PushButtonReset image.

Apply it to the windows partition.

Then open nt6repair,In the FIX OS DRIVE LETTER section, select the partition you just applied the wim to and click FIX.

I only see my normal partitions when I go into one of the menus, I can't see the recovery partitions so I'm already stuck there.

Are you using the explore function?

If you can't see it using that, then it is some weird oem partition type. You can probabaly change it to something visible, like 0x07 using Aomei partition assistant , or if you included pguru, that will see it.

Free Partition Manager - AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard

There is a pguru menu entry, but it will only be included if you have it installed on your running system . Best use the Pro version ( it runs fine unregistered - not as many functions as the registered version, but still very useful )

Have you the USB drive UEFI bootable?

    UEFI USB bootable Drive.

    diskpart
    list disk
    select disk #
    clean
    create partition primary
    format fs=fat32 quick
    active
    assign
    list volume
    exit

    Option Two in this tutorial:

    For UEFI installs.
Windows RE tools partition & OEM Recovery partition,
    Partition ID = "de94bba4-06d1-4d40-a16a-bfd50179d6ac"

To unhide the OEM Recovery Partition.
    Use Partition ID ="ebd0a0a2-b9e5-4433-87c0-68b6b72699c7"

Explore function can only see the normal partitions not the hidden ones. I have now installed the 2 programs you suggested and in the process of creating an new bootable usb with it. But what should I do when I get to the menu again? I thought it found the *.wim file automatically and then I could choose what partition to restore? Could you please point me in the right direction.
