Unable to use built-in ASUS recovery partition

    Thanks for the quick reply KYHI,
    please check the partition info,
    as I have changed GUID of partition no. 2 and 6.
    the regantec is no longer functioning.

    seem to me you have undo your changes

    quick update using diskpart changed guid to = DE94BBA4-06D1-4D40-A16A-BFD50179D6AC
    now they are partitions are set to recovery. Still the error is persisting

    are you trying to RESET through the charms bar?
    did you reboot the pc after making the changes?

    did you try ?
    control panel > recovery > create a recovery drive

    KYHI can I use your bootable custom windows 8.1 recovery disk and use my recovery partition Image to install my original windows 8??

    YES - using WinNTsetup
    or by using DISM command line

    you will have to assign a drive letter to the recovery image partition
    (R) being the recovery image partition (C) being the windows partition

    Dism /apply-image /imagefile:R:\recoveryimage\install.swm /swmfile:R:\recoveryimage\install*.swm /index:1 /applydir:C:\

    Have you tried to create a recovery drive through control panel - that would be your better bet..

    and a clean install of windows 8.1 would be your best bet..

    what is in the factory image as far as programs that you really want??
