I changed the windows partition size to 200gb and removed the data partition. It was set up originally on a 1tb drive where 150gb was Windows and data for 850gb.

Now you can see the 800MB - and the upgrade will set you a miss again..

you can edit the partition.txt file to the proper partition sizes and remove the data partition..

just will just need to edit resetconfig.xml to tell it the recovery partition is 5 and not 6

It wasn't the upgrade that messed it up.. But I just needed a clean install.. I will upgrade and reinstall all the programs.. Than create an image file that can be used for a new backup... Than I will reformat the hard drive with only one partition and restore the image to that.. Clean install with all programs that can be restored anytime on any drive. I hate these recovery partitions... I keep all my important files on separate hard drives.

Why upgrade from 8 to 8.1? why not just do a clean install of 8.1?

since you already have factory 8 on usb..

download windows 8.1 link in sig.. and choose upgrade..

I don't have the disk.. And I want all my drivers and software that come with the computer. Things like splashtop since it has a removable screen with Android. And all my drivers... I like restoring images so I don't have to search for all that stuff and reinstall everything.. Just do it once and backup image the partition. It's much faster. Copy the files over and reboot the computer.. I'm cleaned up in about 15 minutes.
