how do i unlock the C:\Windows partition.... looks like my only choice is to just restore the windows folder and leave the rest. I tried to reset and it asked if i wanted to re-partition or keep the ones i have... first option, hard drive is not big enough... (i upgraded a 1tb 5400rpm to a 250gb SSD.....) and the second option says one of the partitions is missing....... i can refresh windows, but it said i have to unlock it first.

You have the full payload version of windows 8 in decrypted form.. That install.wim file can be used to create windows 8 setup media..

it will take a while - if you selected the second option clean this PC it will take several hours....

it won't take as long if you select option 1 keep this pc..

Nice thing is - you can reboot and start over at any time..

That is why Recovery Media is so Great.. Swap out different images (install.wim) and your good to go..
