    Something odd at your end. Try turning off windows defender, that can be an interference. then run the cmd again. If anything is already mounted, it should see that and unmount it before continuing. Another possibility is dism isn't working, if that's the case, you are out of luck.

    @SIW2

    Works fine on a OEM Windows 8.1 in UEFI mode.

    Some questions :

    - What is the meaning of ". then run the cmd again. If anything is already mounted, it should see that and unmount it before continuing."

    - i Will try to turn off defender.

    - may i create the usb stick with another computer or it need to be done on the laptop i want to restore ?

    - the usb stick has to be fat32 or can be ntfs ?

    I think dism work because i succed to split install.wim file and your previous tool version is working Well

    Windows 8.1

    Hi there,

    I'm having the same problem like others. I bought the Tablet PC TX300 with Windows 8. I'm a big fan of Windows 8 so I've installed Windows 7 on it. Now I want to go back at Windows 8 and I was trying to restore it with the Restore partition. The F9 key is not working so I found this thread. I've tried everything written here but my Restore partition remains "OEM" it won't change to recovery. I don't know why. Also I've seen on this thread that most you have also another partition called "Recovery" That partition is not showing on my laptop. I can see only the "Restore" partition. For the moment I have installed Windows 8.1 and the restore windows is Windows 8 simple. Do you think that's the cause? Should I install Windows 8 simple and try to set the ID again and see if it's working ?

    Update! I've managed to restore my laptop using SIW2 program. It took me a while to understand the process but now looks very simple. You should write a step by step tutorial for the people that are not so good with computers ( like me ). Anyway thank you so much for your effort...you're a life saver!
