Cloned Win7 drive onto UEFI Win8 PC, 7D BSOD after cloning

    Hello,

First, thanks for any help you can provide. I
have Acronis 2013 Plus. What I am trying to do is image the disk of a Windows 7
machine (source) to a machine that had Windows 8 pre-installed (target - Gateway
    SX2110G).

I connected the Windows 7 drive to the new
machine (USB data cable), disabled Secure Boot, and enabled Legacy. Booted to
True Image and started the cloning of the drive. Everything seemed to go ok, but
as soon as it starts to boot Windows 7, it gives a 7D BSOD. (the same BSOD it
gives when I simply plug the source hard drive into the target and try to boot
    from it).

The source HDD (win 7) boots fine in its
    original machine.

    *I tried the startup
repair that's included with the image.. does it matter if I use the one from a
    disc instead?

I've been stumped for 3 days. If
anyone can help I'd REALLY appreciate it! Thanks!

Not surprised. Paragon will help with that. Make Windows 7 bootable after motherboard swap

    What was the Original machine?

I'll be trying this in a short while. So it works when the "new" motherboard is UEFI (came pre-installed with Win 8), has secureboot, etc?

The cd will not be efi bootable, or be signed for secure boot. You have already
disabled Secure Boot, and enabled Legacy
It makes the windows drivers available again as in a fresh install. That is for hardware changes.

Try it and see if it works for your migration.

Thank you SO MUCH. This worked beautifully.

Acronis advertises that their software is able to do this, but apparently not. I contacted them yesterday just to ask if it was possible with the upgraded edition (2014.. I have 2013), and they told me that I have to pay for support for that to be answered. I purchased 2014, and it still didn't.

Again, thank you. I appreciate people like you guys always willing to help others out. =)

Hopefully my explanation of this problem is not too confusing, this my first post. My system is a multi-boot for Win7, Win8.1 & XP. I boot into Win7 most of the time. The multi-boot is controlled via EasyBCD in Win7. My data drive is a separate disk - F. I have been running this configuration...

Question: How would you approach this migration? I just bought a copy of Acronis True Image 2013 with Plus Pack. It appears that this is all I need as True Image will install the new motherboard drivers as part of the migration process. But do I stay with MBR or move to GPT? Presently both...
Hello, I'm about to take the plunge and upgrade to Win8. At present I have WIn7, with my SSD drive containing the OS and progs, and a separate hard drive with my user data on it, I would like to retain all the data on this data drive. I will do a clean install of Win8 on my SSD drive....
I cloned my Windows 7 Pro X64 system to another HDD then upgraded the cloned system to Windows 8 Pro. As a result both Win7 and Win8 have the same Boot Manager Data, so I currently use the BIOS alternate boot option to select which system to boot. Have tried a number of "solutions" so far, but...
I have Win8 successfully installed on a secondary single SSD drive. I want to test it, work on configuring it over time. My primary drive (2 drives on RAID 1) has Win 7 and the boot loader. If I remove my Win7 RAID array permanently, what do I have to do to boot from the Win 8 drive? Thanks
I have a 60GB SSD with Windows 7 installed, and a 1TB HDD that I intend to install Windows 8 on. My understanding of ReadyBoost is that it creates a XGB-sized file in the root of the flash drive, without disrupting any data. I believe I can create an 8-16GB RB file with no problems. Is...
