Brutal WIN8 problem (Ubuntu, Hard Drive, Windows 8 OEM)

How do i repair a windows 8 OEM laptop with no access to windows 8. The only things i see is the bios menu when i push F2 and a black screen with the message, "No bootable device -- Please restart system" i change some settings in bios and the next message is "Missing Operating System." then it lists my build and how the product is covered by the following patents. Again in bios i changed my settings to first check usb, i left it in UEFT boot mode and disabled secure boot. Then plugged in a USB with ubuntu iso 12.10_Live_x64 burnt to it. Three menus popped up one to install, one to demo the OS and the last to check the hard drive for any issues. I did a check and it came back as one file is messing it up, then i tried to install and it wouldn't install (probably because of that one file). lastly i ran the OS in demo mode and it worked... I've been working on this for 2 days now and haven't gotten anything really other then ubuntu hates me and won't show me the GUI, it now takes me to a command module. I burnt DBAN to a USB to totally annihilate the hard drive but the computer won't boot from usb! If anyone has any ideas or can help that would be awesome!

    None as of now

    Hi,

I am also stuck with this. Seems ubuntu does something to your HDD so that Windows is unable to install itself. I am ended up running Ubuntu now which is happily installing itself no matter what partitions I throw at it. But Windows 8 simply keeps on doing tantrum no matter what parititions I create or not for it. Seems MS is punishing me for wiping Windows and installing Ubuntu. Now I have a PC in which I am unable to install Windows and thanks to my 3 year old DVD drive which does'nt recognize any CD / DVD I put in it. So i guess you should simply install Ubuntu also and enjoy!!!

    Thanks.

Have you made the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disks?

    information   Information

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD. (Windows 8 only)
Recovery Drive - Create with USB Flash Drive in Windows 8
System Repair Disc - Create in Windows 8 (Windows 8 only)

I would recommend you making the OEM manufacturer's Recovery DVD's or USB drive.
    or
You can order the Microsoft official OEM Recovery disks from the OEM manufacturer's website.

You probably should be installing 13.04 (or later) since it is more UEFI Secure Boot compatible.

But you have checked your bios to make sure the Windows Boot Manager is set as first priority for boot?

Did you install Ubuntu as UEFI or Legacy?

Ya i've never experienced something like this before, i got Ubuntu to do a full install and it checked my hard drive and came back with no errors so things are looking up. The laptop is lagging with Ubuntu i'm installing updates and if it doesn't improve i'll get Windows 7 for it.

    - bios boot is set for USB first and still nothing, i installed Ubuntu as UEFI with Legacy Boot. Another note i reinstalled Ubuntu this morning and it did a full install then it reloaded and opened it with the GUI instead of command line mode.
