Bonjour,
I have an Asus Eee PC 1015PX running 32-bit Windows 8. I recently discovered it had the capability to run 64-bit Windows 8! I jumped at the thought of this. However, I would need to move my entire registry as well as my programs over. I may try a dual-boot to start, so I am wondering if there is a way to copy the registry and programs over. If you could reply quickly, that would be appreciated.

System Specs:
- Eee PC 1015PX
- 250GB SATA III HDD
- Intel Atom N570 (64-bit capable)
- 2GB SO-DIMM DDR3 RAM
- Windows Developer Preview Build 8102 - 32-bit

Nope. Hate to be the bearer or bad news but x64 needs a clean install. Totally different architecture.
There is no point installing x64 unless you are going to install over 4 Gig RAM.

As jamezb3 said, unfortunately you can't upgrade a x86 OS to a x64 OS. However, you can dual boot the two different operating systems together.

If you want to install the x64 Windows 8 you'll have to either uninstall the x86 OS and then install the new x64 one or boot the disk at startup. This is simply because and x86 system cannot run a x64 program.

All this being said, it would be rather pointless going to all this trouble at the moment to install an x64 operating system because you only have 2GB RAM. an x86 system will be able to handle that just fine; if you ever get more than 4GB memory then that's when you need to think about using an x64 OS.

OK. I was just thinking about upgrading it so that, since Microsoft is hoping to phase out 32-bit systems by 2015, my computer would still be good, since I'm hoping to give it to someone. That's fine though; as soon as Windows 8 actually comes out, I'm probably going to to a clean install anyway.
