I have an Acer aspire e1-570 where the c: drive partition is deleted. (It is a friends pc and he treid to put win 7 on it) All the other partitions are still there. He did not make any recovery dvd or usb stick.
I trayed to get i restored to factory settings, but can not.
It says it is missing a partition.

Any one know what to do?

The recovery partition will contain an OS image. That won't go onto unallocated space. It might if you create a partition where "c" used to be. It might go back on then. If not,you can apply the OS image to that partition using something which applies wim files, e.g imagex. In either case you will almost certainly have to fix the drive letter. Then it should be fine.

Maybe this will work for you?

If you do not have a Windows 7 installation DVD, or it's not up to the Service Pack level currently installed, you can download a legal copy with SP1 integrated from here:

Windows 7 Direct Download Links

Make sure you get the same version you have, Home Premium, Pro or Ultimate and 32 or 64 bit. Note that Basic or Starter is not available.

I recommend using ImgBurn at 4X speed (or the slowest available) to create the DVD from the downloaded .iso file. Just be careful during the install not to accidentally install some of the bundled junk that comes with it. Always take The Custom Install option.

You can do this on any computer capable of burning a DVD.

YOU MUST HAVE A VALID KEY TO INSTALL THIS .ISO.

The one on the COA sticker on your computer will work.

You can also create a bootable USB Flash drive (4GB or larger) to install Windows 7 from.
  1. Download and run Universal USB Installer Easy as 1 2 3
  2. Select Windows 7 from the first drop down list, all the way to the bottom
  3. Select the downloaded Windows 7 iso file
  4. Select your USB flash drive
  5. Click Create
For techies or folks who work on computers:

Create Windows 7 Universal ISO With All Editions Selection On Install with ei.cfg Removal Utility.

I will get back. Thanks.

Ok. I got Windows 8 installed from install.wim from the Push Button Reset partition. Booted with minixp and copyed it out to an usb harddrive. Then booted Windows 8 re, and installed it with DISM. So the pc is up and running Again. I want to install Windows 7 insted, but want to make a backup, so i can install Windows 8 Again.
But in the recoverydrive program i am not allowed to copy the recovery partition.

what to do NeXT? If I erases the partitions on the harddrive to install Windows 7, i do not think it will be that easy to go back to Windows 8 if needed.
Thanks.
