8.0->8.1 with SSD and Users/ProgramData/WindowsApps on D?

Hi,

When I installed W8.0 I followed a very good tutorial on this site to install it with the
following system folders : Users / ProgramData / WindowsApps on my secondary D driver
(the boot one is a small 128GB SSD drive).

As you know, the upgrade doesn't permit the install in this situation...

Is there somebody who managed the upgrade without a Clean Install?
I saw some people managed to put back Users on C before the upgrade but what about the other folders?

8.1 is different than 8 or 7. Do a clean install of 8. Unplug your other hd, install any 8 updates needed and then get 8.1. After 8.1 is installed, update it and then plug in the other hd and move the stuff you want.

The idea is the upgrade and not a clean install...

Well going from 8 to 8.1 is a upgrade. However, a clean install of 8 is necessary first and don't point 8 to the files on the other drive or move anything. Do that after 8.1 is installed.

Well if he has to clean install why would he bother with 8.0, Clean install 8.1
Back everything up and attempt the upgrade see what happens? I think I would move the User folder back to C:

Also I would have an 8.1 ISO set up and all your hardware 8.1 and 8.0 drivers ready to go for a Clean install, 8.1 is not a Service Pack It's a new OS and your running a non standard set up
