No way in installing Windows 8

Before I start, yes, I bought Windows 8.1 from the original site.

I put the CD in and when I choose it to start off from that disk it's just a purple/blue-ish screen. Okay so I put the other disk in there because it came with and that one worked and it aske for a key... I enter it and it says that it's not valid. I've contacted Microsoft via mail and they still haven't responded to me.

Tell me I didnt waste about 300 on nothing...
    Here are my specs.

You need to change the boot order first in the BIOS to boot from DVD, load DVD and then restart PC. It then should start installing 8.1.

That didn't work, the computer just restarted.

When you changed the settings in the BIOS, did you save the changes made?

I think your going to have to get into your BIOS and turn off Secure boot and enable CSM, secure boot may be protecting your current OS. You say you have 2 disks 1 would be for 64 and the other would be for 32 ensure you are using the correct one for your system. A clean install would be preferable see the sticky's at the top of the Install forum. and the tutorials forum.

    JFWIW......

Some PC's that ran Windows 7/64, just fine, and even ran Windows 8/64, will not run Windows 8.1/64.
I have one of those.....and I had to install Windows 8.1/32, even though the motherboard and CPU are 64 bit capable.

It's become more and more apparent to this old tech, that Win-8.1 is not just 8.0 with a few enhancements.
It's really a new OS, with different hardware requirements, (it's very demanding) and needs to be treated as such.

I'm curious, if those DVD's came with an install Lic. Key? Does the same key work for both the 32 bit and the 64 bit version?

    Happy New Year Everyone!

YES the key will work for both x32 & x64, it is only Win XP keys that will not.

    That is SO funny!
But I suppose that some might try to use an XP key for installing Windows 8.1.
    I would not.

    Happy New Year!
