Booting from DVD -quicker way ??

This is a simple question but one that is genuinely makings want to throw my laptop again the wall.

Is there away of booting from the DVD driver without having to load windows , then go into recover and chose advanced options ?

This takes ages when the install keeps failing for one reason or another .

Any help would be grateful received

If you are unable to access your BIOS Boot options on boot up, try turning Windows Fast Startup Off. Fast Startup - Turn On or Off in Windows 8 On my ASUS laptop I can not access my BIOS with F2 or access the BIOS one time boot option with the ESC when Fast Startup is turned on. With it turned off I have full access without having to go into recover and chose advanced options.

Also if you don't want to change the fast startup setting you can either hold down shift when choosing shutdown from the power menu. Or you can just hold down the power button. If I do the power button method I usually run "sync.exe" from SysInternals just to flush the HD file buffers, right before I hold the button down. I'm just cautious that way.

On my Toshiba Laptop I don't see any prompt when I start up. But I still have more time to just hold down FN key while tapping on F12 to get the boot selection menu.

easy way to get windows 8 to boot from cd / dvd ?

the whole process of getting the PC to boot from DVD now seems have been made really complex and long winded thanks to Windows 8 - is there a quick way of having this option as a quick tweak or desktop icon rather than having to go into recover etc etc.

When I turn the computer on, it goes to a page with some curved colored designs on it. I have to push that up to get to a log in page, and then log in to get to my desk top. Can I do something so it goes directly to my desktop when I turn it on? I don't care about a log in.
