    recovery partition

    Hello
I have Dell XPS 8300 and made a set of dvds when I got the machine. I don't remember if I made them before or after a Dell tech deleted my recovery partition.
I have since made a Win 8 dvd from the downloaded iso file and using the library, moved to Win 8.1.

I am asking if there is a way I can restore or obtain the recovery partition.
I have the original Win 7 cd, the 2 dvds I made when I got the pc and the Win 8 dvd I created.

If the recovery partition is not in the Win 7 dvds(as I said above) is there any way to get that partition back?

When I moved from Win 7 to 8 with the disc I did not see any opportunity to create this recovery disc.
I thought if I selected 'custom' after 0 unallocated space, then 'drive options adv', 'new' and 'apply' it would be automatically created.
I never saw anything like that so just 'next it' to Win 8.
I read Brink's tutorial but either I made and error or I can't do it.
So, can I get a recovery partition?
    Thank you
    Peter
P.S. I have a Dell Laptop which is similar to the desktop and it has the recovery partition. Could that be of any help? It has Office and another licensed program so I doubt I could use the image in my desktop. I have current Macrium images of both pcs.

The Recovery DVD's will Reinstall Windows 7 & the Dell Recovery Partition for Windows 7.

The Windows 8 DVD will Reinstall Windows 8 only, not the Windows 7 Dell Recovery Partition.

I may have made the recovery dvds after the tech removed the partition - still ok?

if the Win 7 recovery partition is installed and I move to Windows 8, will it also be there . It was for the laptop as the laptop has Win 8.1 with the recovery partition.

    1) The OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app would need the Recovery Partition in-place to make the disks.

    2) The Recovery Partition would there, but unuseable after installing Windows 8 or 8.1.

I did not know that. Thank you for the useful information and thank goodness for imaging.

Would it be advisable to delete the recovery partition on my laptop? It is similar to my desktop but the recovery partition was never deleted. It was Win 7, moved to Win 8 and now is Win 8.1

Logically I should be able to remove it with no harm done b/c as you say it is no longer any good since I moved from 7 to 8.1.

I am using the logic used for the desktop so hope I am correct.

    Thank you
