Ghosting HDD to new SSHD; Can't Boot to Either Drive

Ghosting HDD to new SSHD; Can't Boot to Either Drive

First off, I'd like to state how I did this:
I have the HDD (1TB, with 3 partitions) within my Desktop, running on a SATA cable (6Gb/s)
The SSHD (2TB with 8GB SSD built in) I have outside my desktop in an external case (USB3.0 cable)

Started Norton Ghost to ghost the HDD to the SSHD. Said everything worked just fine. Went to reboot, and BAM, nothing starts.

Hi everyone, I could use some help. Recently I noticed that my HDD was failing, so I went ahead and bought a brand new 2TB SSHD for my desktop. After doing some research, I discovered that I would need to 'ghost' my HDD to my new SSHD in order to transfer all information, bootloader, and everything else. However, after using Norton Ghost, when trying to boot from the new SSHD, it automatically goes into "Preparing Automatic Repair". On the original HDD, I get the same thing. Now, out of curiosity, I decided to try and start off my W8 DVD and repair the boot process by running (in a command prompt) "bootrec.exe /fixmbr" and "bootrec.exe /fixboot" commands. Now the SSHD, when trying to boot from it, just gives me a blinking indicator that the system does when loading something, but nothing ever comes up.

I am willing to re-install Windows 8 if it means I can work on my desktop again... as of right now I'm just posting from my laptop, which isn't the best around, and I have a lot of work I need to get done from the desktop HDD. The laptop can do certain things, such as run EasyBCD to try and repair the SSHD's boot system, but I tried that and nothing worked. (if you didn't read above, the SSHD is in an external enclosure to a USB3.0 cable). Since I have everything still on the original drive, should I just simply wipe the SSHD, install Windows 8 again, then copy over my personal data? I don't care if I lose my settings, but if I don't have to, that's fine too :)

    Thanks in advance,

PS: If you have any questions, I'll be VERY GLAD TO HELP!!

Norton Ghost has not support for Windows 8/8.1, you need to use SSR Desktop Edition which is the replacement for Norton Ghost.

How to clone your SATA drive to a SATA drive.
How to Migrate OS to new Hard disk.

Well THAT'S WHY. Thanks for this info. Not sure how it messed up the first drive as well though.
Now when I transfer my laptop HDD I'll be sure to use that link.

    Thank you very much!!
