Hi, I have a perfectly working Win 8.1 Pro Preview / Eval copy build 9431 working here on my AMD Phenom II X4 945 | 3.00 GHz 64 bit 8gb RAM desktop machine.

When I try to update the preview version of 8.1 using the link: Update from Windows 8.1 Preview to Windows 8.1 - Microsoft Windows Help#

the download starts and then abruptly stops.

What should I be doing next?

Thanks!

Hi--
Here's what option 2 describes, right?

Note
For now, Windows 8.1 ISO files are available to download for TechNet and MSDN subscribers.

1. For how, see Option Three in the tutorial below.

How to Upgrade from Windows 8, Windows 7, Vista, or XP to Windows 8 or 8.1

And I'm not ordering anything. I want the update to work. I've fussed with this from day oneyoudon'tevenknow.

How do I get the final product? Win 8.1 Pro.

Please step it out.

Thank you.

Hello Briente,

You might find the tutorial below more helpful instead.

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/32995-windows-8-1-upgrade-windows-8-8-1-preview.html

Be sure to see this from the tutorial above though.

Upgrading from Windows 8.1 Preview to Windows 8.1

If you installed Windows 8.1 Preview as an update from the Windows Store in Windows 8, you will be able to install the free Windows 8.1 update from the Windows Store.

If you installed Windows 8.1 Preview by booting from ISO media, you can update to the final version of Windows 8.1 Pro using the Windows Store, but your system won't activate until you buy a Windows 8.1 license and Product Key. You can do this by following the instructions when you activate your system, or by purchasing a DVD of Windows 8.1 Pro.

When upgrading from Windows 8.1 Preview/Windows RT 8.1 Preview to Windows 8.1/Windows 8.1 RT, you will "Keep personal files only", but will lose your settings and have to reinstall all of your apps (desktop and Store).

Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

When I try to update the preview version of 8.1 using the link: Update from Windows 8.1 Preview to Windows 8.1 - Microsoft Windows Help#

the download starts and then abruptly stops.
Did you use the method of pasting ms-windows-store:WindowsUpgrade into the address bar? (That's what I had to do, although I think they may have made the links work better since.)

It might be worth pasting a screenshot of what happens when the download stops, as I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to happen.

I have a PC which was running the 8.1 Pro preview (which I'd installed from the 8.1 Preview ISO), and pasted the above into my address bar to get to the Windows Store, and it all worked OK and the PC is now running 8.1.

I had to enter my Windows 8 product key after the computer restarted and went through some of the setup steps; but it sounds like you aren't getting that far?
