I have an old machine with only 2 SATA connectors and 2 PATA connectors. I need to install 3 hard drives. I don't have any PATA hard drives so I got an SATA->PATA adapter. I installed Win 8 on the hard drive connected to the adapter and it was running fine. I decided to replace the OS hard drive with a SanDisk 64G SSD and ran into problems.
So I decided to go for a fresh installation. I booted via a USB drive and installed Win 8.1 on the SSD. After reboot, it goes directly into recovery and reports an IO error. Has anyone seen this before? Thanks.
