Hey guys,

I bought a Razer Blade 14" laptop last week and it comes pre-installed with windows 8.1 core

Im looking for a way to download the windows 8.1 core x64 iso so that i can format the laptop and reset the partitions of the ssd (14GB is allocated to the system restore)

after much googling i saw that people have been getting an iso through using their windows 8 key, but mine is straight up 8.1 so after trying the method it did not work.

Any ideas?

That trick download you were looking at won't work with OEM keys only Retail keys are accepted. The embedded keys are OEM keys. It's a shame really as you can install and activate with the OEM keys you just can't download the install files to make the ISO.

Have you make the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disks?

information   Information

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD.

I personally DO NOT RECOMMEND using this METHOD above, as of the ERRORS you may receive below with the Microsoft Recovery USB Drive. You would be best off using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery DVD's or Recovery USB drive.

I would recommend you making the OEM manufacturer's Recovery DVD's or USB drive.
or
You can order the Microsoft official OEM Recovery disks from the OEM manufacturer's website.

The Windows Recovery USB drive & Recovery Partition can be very problematic, I recommend you also make a Windows System Image.

There is a rumor MS will be making the installation media available. Unless or until that happens, people will keep fishing on the interweb thingy.

It's a shame really as It seems to me that its the people with OEM installs that really need the ISO.

Newegg.com still has the media only advertised, but has removed the original $14.99 price. And it's now called backup media (no key) instead of media only (no key).
