Hello Glenn, and welcome to Eight Forums.

It all depends on if you have Windows 8 installed with UEFI or Legacy (BIOS).

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/29504-bios-mode-see-if-windows-boot-uefi-legacy-mode.html

If with UEFI, then see: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/13326-downgrade-windows-8-windows-7-a.html

If with Legacy (BIOS), then you should be able to just boot from your Windows 7 installation media to do a clean install of Windows 7.

Hope this helps for now, :)

I don't know if it still holds true, but in the past when I've beta tested Microsoft OSes, rolling back to the former OS isn't always easily done. IOW, when Windows 7 beta was on a hard drive and I wanted to roll back to Vista (heaven forbid), I couldn't format the hard drive. So, I'm not sure that after Windows 8 has been on the drive, if there'll be problems formatting and reinstalling Windows 7.

When that happens, I use Terabyte Unlimited's Copywipe TeraByte Unlimited :: Downloads :: Free Software :: Hard Drive Management

Terabyte is a valuable and safe resource; I've been using their products for many years. Especially the free ones.

Another good one is BurnCDCC which burns an ISO to DVD. Very easy to use.

Is there such a thing as a full retail version of Windows 7, 32 bit ?

If so, and you can spare the money, problem solved.

If I am incorrect, please tell me.

EDIT--- $199 at WalMart.

Sounds to me like the OP probably already has Windowe 7 32 bit, which could be from his original installation. And, yes, as you discovered, there is a Windows 7 x86. I just checked my Technet subscription and there are the following versions of Windows 7: Starter, Home Premium, Home Basic, Professional and Ultimate in x86 and x64. These versions all come with SP1, even. There is also that N package that I don't understand except that when downloading, I'm to avoid. :)

All in all, I've learned more than I ever wanted to know about the number of Windows 7 versions (brings back memories of my testing days though).

Edit: Win 7 Home Premium $99 at Newegg; Professional $139 and Ultimate $189; all of which are OEM. Non OEM are a few bucks higher.
