Reinstallation of Windows 8 and ISO Disk

Hey all. I have been having several problems with my laptop. Among them include a message box appearing, 5 actually, one on top of the other, saying something about not being able to run sysdll, I think. There are other things that are occurring that are making things a bit difficult to access or do.

As a result, I would like to reinstall Windows 8. I would like to do a clean reinstall. I obtained my legal copy of Windows 8 on the internet. When I installed it, I made what I thought was the appropriate disk, an ISO, needed if I crashed or something like that. In going through the advanced recovery options, I first tried to refresh my laptop. I was instructed to insert my "Windows Installation or Recovery Media" disk, which I did. I was told it was not valid. I then tried a reset, and once again got the not valid message.

So, now I'm at a quandary. I thought that the ISO disk I created was what I would use for this purpose but it appears it is not.

I am not very computer savvy and am getting both frustrated and concerned that any more things I try will really screw this puppy up. Can anyone suggest something or tell me what I'm doing incorrectly? I would like to get this baby fixed and I'm willing to wipe it all off to obtain that effect. Thanks.

Thanks. It's on a disk. So, I would insert the disk, and then boot up, and take it from there? I hope this is relatively easy. I'm just learning this stuff. What's unfortunate is that I have no qualms doing anything and that's how I messed up my laptop. Therefore, I need to practice restraint and caution or it seems I go off half cocked, you know, throw caution to the wind. This throwing of the caution is throwing me for a loop.

Did you purchase it from Microsoft directly? If so, I believe you can download the ISO from them again. However, you'll need a special program to burn that ISO to disc and I can recommend the following based on my experience in using same:

The Official ImgBurn Website

However, I have a real concern if you made your purchase elsewhere. If so, go back and tell that retailer that your ISO is not being recognized as valid and see what they can do for you. Good luck,

The OP should try clean install from booted media.

Not very clear. I would guess GAGABABY got the upgrade deal and downloaded the files from MS , which also offer to create an iso.

Hey all

. . . As a result, I would like to reinstall Windows 8. I would like to do a clean reinstall. I obtained my legal copy of Windows 8 on the internet. When I installed it, I made what I thought was the appropriate disk, an ISO, needed if I crashed or something like that. I was told it was not valid. I then tried a reset, and once again got the not valid message.

The only places I'm aware of that you can get a legal ISO on the web is from Microsoft Store (update), Technet and MSDN.

That said, did you save a copy of the ISO? If so, go to Terrabyte Unlimited TeraByte Unlimited :: Downloads :: Free Software :: Hard Drive Management and download BurnCDCC. While you're at it, download Copywipe.

Terabyte is a very reputable source and their free utilities are quite handy. BurnCDCC is, for me, the simplest and easiest way to burn an ISO file to DVD. I've never produced a coaster with it, although I have with other programs.

I don't know if it still holds true, but in the past when I've been forced to roll a Microsoft beta OS back to a former version, the drive has to be completely erased. Enter Copywipe (Windows or DOS) and you'll be allowed to tell it how many passes to make so the drive will be completely blank and you can once more install what you wish. In fact, I'd be caught wiping the drive with Copywipe before reinstalling.

Terabyte doesn't even ask for a donation; I'm pretty sure they know I'll be back to buy anything I need that isn't free and that's why they give these things away.

Did you make the OEM manufacturer's Recovery disk?
