Hi,

I have a Windows Surface retrieved and want to switch to the Dutch language.
But some apps remain in English.
Any idea how I can fix this?

Hi Bjorn,

Did you buy the Surface in The Netherlands? Or did you import it from the USA? Normally, when bought in The Netherlands, the Surface comes with a Dutch Windows version on in.

Did you tried reinstalling the apps that remain in English yet? Please try so.

You could also try running the SFC Scannow command ==> http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/3047-sfc-scannow-command-run-windows-8-a.html

Good luck with it and let me know if this works.

Greetz,

Rover.

Hi,

This surface is an action by Microsoft for schools.
When installing you have but choice of 3 languages; French, English and German.
I have brought him back to factory settings but I get no choice between the languages and installs entirely in French.Dutch language pack after installation try to put about it but it's not complete.
Also when creating another user are some just in a different language while the other user in the apps in Dutch.
I have so the presumption that it will not succeed him in the Dutch to put ...
It Is actually possible to get a clean install (via usb) to perform for this surface?

Hi Bjorn,

you must live in Wallonië then, aren't you?

I don't know if it's possible to clean install the Surface Pro 2 via usb. But simply installing the Dutch language pack should work though.

Here's the things you must do/check:
  • Go to Control Panel/ Clock, language and country/ Language;
  • There you can add a language. Add Dutch;
  • Then click on "Advanced settings" on the left of your screen;
  • There you can change some settings that will tell Windows what to do with the other user accounts etc. as well as apps;

Here are two screenshots of the Dutch version:

Hope this will be usefull for you.

Greetz,

Rover

ps. My grey braincells are thinking about something that used to be (Windows 7 and before). Then you could not completely change the display language if the origional language was wrong. Like origional Dutch changed to German was not possible. But if the origional installation language was English, you could change it to everything you'd like. So perhaps try a reinitialization, choose English and then change to Dutch language pack?

Hi,

I live in Flanders hear but that school will probably have looked only to the price and not to the specifications of the tablet.

Thanks to you last screenshot I have the surface able to transfer entirely in Dutch.

Thank you very much for you help!

Bjorn

Hi Bjorn,

Ah, u woont dus in het mooie Vlaanderen! Ok, let's keep it in English for the rest of the visitors ;).

Great to hear that you've done it and were able to change the language to Dutch entirely!!! It's so much better to work in your native language.

You are welcome and welcome again at this wonderfull forum.

Greetz from Arnhem,

Rover
