Hey there,I'd got my windows from my father nearly an year ago, the enterprise version, he used to work in a firm and they had given him windows 8, he installed one on mine and another on his office's laptop. Now he works in another firm and they haven't upgraded to windows 8 itself  the previous firm took back the office laptop, etc. But i still use the windows 8 on my laptop.(personal one that my father had installed an year ago)

So now i find out the update for enterprise version is possible only through volume licensing thing, with no means to access that, can i still update my present windows 8 enterprise edition to windows 8.1 enterprise version?
Can you guys help me? How can i update now?
Is it possible?

Thank you in advance.
Please do help.

No you can't. You could use the 8.1 enterprise preview until January but if you want a valid Windows OS you'll have to buy it. At the moment it is cheaper to buy an 8 license from ebay and then upgrade to 8.1 than go direct to 8.1. You can't buy an enterprise license as an individual (at least not cheaply).

It doesn't sound like you really had a valid license in the past - if I ran an enterprise I'd not give licenses to family members of my employees but perhaps that is me...

Unless MS has changed the "Home Use" program since I last used it, adamf is correct -- the license is for the employee, not for others, and it's not legal to transfer it to other folks.
