Does anyone know when you do a clean install of 8, would the 8.1 automatically appear in the app store? Or do you have to run all the windows updates first?
I was about to ask that same question.

If you clean install with Windows 8, you need to do the Windows update before, going to the store.

Do you have to install all the W8 updates or is there just a few that are needed to get you ready for 8.1.

That's not too bad but I was hoping for less. Do you know how many total updates were offered when you did it?

O.K. I successfully downloaded the ISO.I might be a noob on this but can someone explain GA and RTM to me,what they mean, what differences are?Plus what are the consequences of a build number for future updates to Windows 8.1.ty It is a fact some were able to do a clean install too?
RTM stands for Release To Manufacture, most are running that as its been out for a while. The GA is General Availability, its a newer version that has the rollup package already in it. The GA has a latter build number as it was released latter. Anybody that is running the RTM got an ~200 MB update to add the updates included in GA. If your doing a clean install you want the newer GA release.

If you are using the same PC with Win 8.1 Pro in it, you won't be able to download the ISO as it checks the system.
    EDIT:
I have tried in my laptop with 8.1 with no luck, but when I tried in my nephews desktop with Win 7, it downloaded without any problem.
I downloaded it on my desktop PC that is running 8.1 RTM. 8.1 Pro + MC x64

I know. I was just offering a suggestion. ok. I am for the time being, anyway, doing just fine with server.
At least it is one way to get ISO 8.1 TODAY (free) if you can. (no product key required)

    Download Windows 8.1 Enterprise Evaluation
What are you going to do when the 90 days runs out?

RTM +GA rollup is not the same. The real GA has new boot files in boot.wim and winre.wim. The GA rollup won't do that.
If your doing a clean install you want the newer GA release.
