I haven't tried do do a clean install this way... yet.

Getting a bit old playing pingpong with this stupid message, since it's self-evident the connection is there.

Not sure what's going on as it sounds like you did what i did.

I upgraded through the store, then booted into the Windows 8.1 setup i had created on a USB and chose repair my PC. Here i chose Reset and it went off an did its thing.

End result was a clean install (of sorts).

I assume you have a retail key and had the install after upgrade activated?

The reason I asked was that launching the 8.1 set up might overwrite the previously downloading windows 8 iso

Is this because of overloaded servers?? Anyone?

Since I posted the screenshot here it would seem the problem is with MS servers.

You might be right, I don't have a retail key, I have an upgrade key, the cheaper version initially sold for £25, anyway, good luck to all those who managed a clean install and thanks for posting, I wasn't too keen on 8.1 earlier but when I tried the 8.1 Enterprise Evaluation version and saw your post, thought of giving it a try, 8.1 Ent. version seems OK.

My key was the upgrade offer last year (279SEK) i think, bout £25. SO sounds like i used (successfully) the same type of key as you.
