    Can't update to Windows 8.1

Sorry. It looks like this PC can't run Windows 8.1. This might be because the Users or Program Files Folder is being redirected to another partition.

Using the guide (User Profiles - Relocate to another Partition or Disk), I had relocated my user profiles to D: Drive, when I installed my windows 8 Pro. I was able to go Windows Store to download 8.1 but I get the above error "Sorry"..

Can I use the same guide and move back all user profiles, including local admin to C: Drive? and then upgrade to 8.1?

Upon upgrading, can I change again the user profiles to D: Drive?

    Regards

    Hello Sudarshan,

You might see if this may work for you as well to do this.

User Profiles - Relocate to another Partition or Disk

    Hope this helps,

Did not succeed as per this suggestion. I followed up the option 2 method and created a new user in C: Drive. Restarted the computer and logged in using the new account/user. Even then, ended up in the same error.

Now, this item, I followed the option 1 method and moved all users to C:\ drive, using Regedit and profile path. I was able to download 8.1 and no more initial error of "Sorry".. after the compatibility test.

But, to dismay, the set up ran into a more serious problem as" Attempted execute of No execute Memory" ; The PC was switched off and later started. The system was automatically restored back to windows 8 pro.

    Any suggestion about this failure?

Or Should I do the sysprep and move the user profiles to C: Drive?

    Regards

Personally, I would just move them back to C.

I moved the entire user profile/accounts to C: Drive; I had succeeded in getting the download version of 8.1 but sadly, up on the installation, I was getting a serious error: Attempted execute of no execute memory

The system itself automatically rolled back to previous status.. windows 8 pro.

    Now to solve:

    a) I have downloaded the latest Driver Booster Pro and updated all device drivers. Still the problem continues. Trying to sift if I could get a clue to solve this problem.

    Any suggestions..

    Regards

Looks like you may need to reinstall Windows 8 Pro first.

I still can't believe that MS does not acknollage that a user map on 'C' is unpractical in this day and age were SSD's are used as systemdisk.

And who came up whit the idea to make the 'computer' a decendant of a user's desktop?

    Are they for real?
    apperantly not.
