First of all, sorry for another new thread. I didn't see a general one for installation issues or one that fits my problem.

So, I started trying to update 8 to 8.1 from Windows Store. It went ok there, rebooted, installed and it got somewhat stuck around 83% during "applying PC settings" (don't know if it's exactly that in english, since mine is in portuguese). A few minutes later, black screen and after a few more minutes, it rebooted and went to the boot screen (Windows logo). However, it never got past that. Eventually, after many reboots, it restored to 8.0. I tried two times in a row and always the same problem.

Is there any solution?

Just found out the SteelSeries engine and Windows 8.1 have issues. Already uninstalled. I'll update this topic later when I try to update again (will try that DISM solution too).

Uninstalled the Steelseries Engine and it worked. Thanks!

Nice work! You actually found your issue via your own initiative. I just added the additional support information for good measure.
