No ISO? Why?

Why are they not offering those who were with you from day one a bootable ISO we can install 8.1 with. I'm sorry but this is not how you treat your customers.

1. I like clean installs. I do not want to install 8, then spend hours upgrading to 8.1. An installation media is cleaner and significantly faster.

2. I tried to update via the windows store with my secondary rig. It was a nightmare process and by the time I was done I had crashed twice. I am not subjecting my high end rig to this terrible process.

I do not meant to sound like a jerk here but for an entire year now all MS has done is create bad will by their policies. You think for once they'd do something right but nope.

Heck, I remember when Vista SP1 came out. I was able to go to the MS site and grab a free Vista SP1 disc. All I had to do was pay for shipping. Do we even get this option now? No.

This is the last time I ever buy any of your products day one. I am being punished for being a loyal customer.

Sorry for the rant but this is how I feel. It's as if MS knows there are people who will only clean install therefore would be willing to shell out another 200 bucks for 8.1 Pro. It's greedy.

For now I'm sticking with 8.0 for my primary rig. I refuse to do the upgrade method and I will not buy another copy. It is not fair that you are offering the iso for MSDN subscribers but everyone else screw them? Next time you release an OS I will not be there day one.

Oh I understand that and I do apologize it came off that way. It's sort of a complaint to them and a place for those who agree to voice their opinions on the matter.

Sorry for the confusing wording.

No need to apologise, you and your views are welcome, lot of people will read your comments and may be some of them are from MS, please let them know by posting in Microsoft community forum as well.

Overall, very happy with this laptop -- great for work & was very good for gaming when I originally bought it (haven't tried any games last year or so).
I second that, I totally agree that full installation of win 8 then upgrade to 8.1 is very stupid and personally I'm not gonna do it on my PC

You are right to post.

It is perfecly clear from the files we downloaded today - MS have no intention of letting 8.0 users have an iso for 8.1.

However, it is possible they have one ready - just in case the feedback is strong enough.

I agree that would be a good idea and I hope MS is/was smart enough to prepare for the onslaught of complaints!

It is not a very good start for them. Whoever is reading this for MS will no doubt pass it on.

Well in my case (and several others too, it seems) with one failed update I really wouldn't want to download another 3.6GB and waste even more of my time (and hair!) :)
