I have Windows 7 on one SSD drive and am going to install another seperate SSD drive and put Windows 8 on it. I was thinking of using a third party bootloader to acess both Os's. Would this be possible? Thanks in advance.

Using the method you described....I do exactly that and I use the F12 key to select my boot device.

Depending on the mobo, but most have a F key to use to boot directly to the HDD/SSD/device of your choice. My Gigabyte (and it's old) uses the F12 key and when I want to change from one OS to another, I just restart and after I hear the post beep I just start tapping the F12 key and a menu pops up to let me choose what device to boot from.

If you unplug the Windows 7 drive while installing Windows 8, one won't be linked to the other, and it will make it easier if you decide to ditch one or the other. They will be totally independent of each other and you can use you BIOS's quick boot menu to select which one you want to boot to. I suspect that is how Bassfisher6522 has his setup.
If you leave the Windows 7 drive connected Windows 8 will setup a dual boot for you. The draw back is if you delete windows 7, 8 may not be bootable, they will share the boot loader. Also if you ditch 8, it will still show up in the boot menu unless you edit it out.
